Our 1st floor workshop is at the heart of everything we do - from small repairs, complete services to custom building bikes and wheels.
Martin is a Cytech Level 2 qualified mechanic who has spent the last 27 years practising his trade. We have invested heavily in our workshop over the years and as a Shimano Service Centre , you can rest assured that your bike will be serviced by a skilled mechanic. Great attention is paid to all-important details such as always using Shimano control cables, Finish Line lubricants and top quality tools from Park USA.
We are happy to carry out work from a puncture repair to a full strip-down, regrease and rebuild. Unlike many workshops we do not have a 'set-price menu' for services. We feel that this can lead to the customer paying for work that may not need doing. We prefer to see you with your bike and discuss face to face what work is required and what the cost will be.
Over the years Martin's reputation for high quality handbuilt wheels has grown. Many cycling enthusiasts throughout the Southwest seek Martin and Tavistock Cycles out when the time has come for a new set of wheels.
We only use top quality stainless steel spokes from DT Swiss paired with rims from DT Swisss and Mavic laced to Shimano hubs. We believe we have mastered the exact science and art of wheelbuilding and are sure you won't be disappointed.
New Bike Service
Every new cycle that we sell will be thoroughly checked and rechecked before it leaves us. We true the wheels, check and grease the hub and steering bearings and fine-tune the brakes and gears. In short your new bike will be a joy to ride!
Shimano Di2 Builds & Maintenence
Martin has received one to one training from a Shimano Technician and we have invested in the software to update Di2 firmware. So, whether you are already using Di2 or looking to upgrade - we have the skills and experience.
